I am engaged in working with paper clay as a creative medium. Its strength and versatility encourage the exploration of ceramic forms which offer a variety of possibilities for surface decoration, design and firing techniques. Burnished pots from early African and South American cultures influence this process. Much of the stimulus for this group of work comes from my love of collecting objects such as driftwood, shells, leaves and stones from the natural coastal environment. The utilisation of primitive and low-firing techniques such as pit, sawdust and raku, further enhance shape, texture and colour.
