Overview from John Tuckwell:
The members of Coastal Claymakers can feel a bit pleased with how our exhibition at Nexus has turned out.
Andy
Livemore was helped, this time by Lynn Tizzard to hang the show. His
aim was to have every entrant allowed equal treatment first and then to
go for a spare elegant look to make our ceramics sparkle.
I
was lucky enough to be in the gallery when most of the work came out of
the boxes and it was a great pleasure and relief to get to the point
where it became obvious that we had the quality work that was needed.
At each show we do the quality improves.
The
miniature and small gem section which might have been all kept in a
single area was instead spread with each artist having their own space
and all their work kept in that space.
As well as having some good work it is
important for some other things to be right
When
Shirley Stubington, brilliantly, opened the show on Sunday we could
claim clear skies, good food, plenty of wine and a good crowd. What
more could we want?
Another show next year?
